The Open Directory provides core directory services for some of the largest and most popular search engines, including Google, Netscape Search, AOL Search, Lycos, HotBot, and hundreds of others.
This directory manually reviews all submissions and prides itself on being selective. As a result, it is well respected and trusted.
Browse to the category which best fits your website and click "suggest URL" at the top. An editor will review your submission to determine if it should be included. If accepted, it can take 2 weeks to several months to be listed.
Only submit once and forget about it. If you resubmit your listing and bother the editors, they may be less inclined to include your site.
